Sunny is a member of the firms Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical Group. She has extensive experience in prosecuting patent applications and writing opinions regarding patentability, infringement and freedom-to-operate. Sunny's work focuses on biotechnology area including nucleic acid and polypeptide sequences, antibodies, and pharmaceuticals, as well as advanced materials area. She has consulted clients in negotiating licensing and joint development agreements and conducted related due diligence. Patent portfolios that Sunny helped the client to build and monetize include biotech platform technologies.
She was a member of the firm's litigation team for the recent AZ v. Hanmi in the District Court of New Jersey, which was the Korean drug companies' first US Hatch-Waxman litigation.
Sunny is the author of biweekly column “이선희 미국변호사의 기술특허 길라잡이” of The Yakup (약업신문) (웹페이지 www.yakup.com/pharmplus).
Sunny is named in the 2015 Rising Stars within the Washington DC metropolitan area by the Washington DC Super Lawyers Magazine. She speaks fluent Korean and is a registered Korean Patent Attorney. Sunny is a Korea Innovation Center (KIC) Washington DC leadership mentor. She also served as a president of the KAIPBA.
