Sughrue landed a jury trial win for its client Orange Electronics Co. Ltd against Autel Intellectual Technology Company in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division, on June 8, 2023.  After only one hour and seventeen minutes of deliberation, the jury found for Orange on every count, ruling that defendant Autel had willfully infringed Orange’s U.S. Patent No. 8,031,064, for a Tire Pressure Monitoring System.  The Jury also found that the patent was not invalid and was patent eligible, and awarded Orange over $6.6M in past damages.  Orange was represented by Sughrue attorneys John Rabena, William Mandir, Carl Pellegrini, Keiko Takagi, and Young Sun Kwon. Sughrue attorney Fadi Kiblawi had previously defeated an IPR filed by Autel on the same patent.
