Meiling Chen Low

Meiling is a partner in the firm’s Electrical/Mechanical Group. Meiling has over 15 years of experience in patent prosecution. Meiling has experience with a wide range of technologies, including video coding, video games, semiconductors, cameras, displays, networking, user interfaces, and information processing. She manages strategically important patent portfolios for cutting edge, globally recognized companies. Her expertise includes standard-essential patents (SEPs) and evolving fields such as video coding (e.g. 3GPP and VCM).

Meiling leads an experienced team of patent professionals with advanced technical degrees and extensive experience in drafting and preparing patent applications directed to various industry standards, including standards related to wireless communications and video coding, mesh, and MPEG.

Before joining Sughrue, Meiling worked at technology corporations in Shenzhen and Taiwan, where she gained experience with a variety of technologies and assisted in facilitating methods for intellectual property licensing and analyzing competitors' patent scopes and strategies.

Meiling frequently speaks at conferences in Asia, including about inter partes and ITC proceedings. She speaks fluent Mandarin. Meiling was selected for inclusion in the list of Rising Stars within the Washington, DC metropolitan area by the Washington, DC Super Lawyers Magazine for 2021-2025.
