Kevin is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Electrical/Mechanical Patent groups. His litigation practice focuses on intellectual property litigation in a broad range of technology areas in the electronic, mechanical and computer arts, and he has broad experience in discovery matters. His prosecution practice focuses on writing and prosecuting applications in the areas of display devices, analog communications systems and devices, digital communications systems and devices, networking, printing systems and devices, and optics and semiconductor devices. In addition, Kevin has experience performing due diligence investigations, and preparing opinions in the areas of patentability, infringement and product clearance.
Prior to joining Sughrue, Kevin was a Senior RF Engineer at Motorola, Inc., where he designed, optimized and tested radio front ends. Kevin has had extensive experience in working on antennas, filters, and oscillators in the VHF, UHF, and 280 MHz frequency bands, including various loop antenna and ferrite core antenna designs. Kevin brings this experience to his work protecting client products in the RFID and other near field communications areas. Kevin also worked for Harris RF Communications on radios in the HF frequency band, where he also focused on radio front ends, including antenna, filters and oscillators in the HF frequency band for use with a direct digital converter for converting intermediate frequency signals directly to baseband. Kevin also has experience working for IBM in IBM's Federal Systems Group, where Kevin worked as a system administrator of a LAN and programmed software for submarine training systems.
