Before the fax, teleconference or the Internet, indeed before the advent of the microchip, we established our Firm in Washington, DC, to be in close proximity to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This allowed us to hone our skills in USPTO practices and to directly represent our clients before that agency and, in particular, its Appellate Boards. Since then, we have broadened our perspective and our practice to keep pace with the international nature of intellectual property and the business results focus of our clients, as well as the increasing complexities of technology and the law - building a wealth of experience and knowledge along the way.

In the 1980s, before it was fashionable, we recognized that the increasing globalization of intellectual property law and our desire to better serve our clients made opening an office in Tokyo a good idea. Our California Office located in Mountain View was opened several years later to be closer to our clients on the West Coast. These offices enable us to provide intellectual property legal services around-the-world and around-the-clock. Each of our offices has its own resident staff; however, attorneys from our main office often work from our Mountain View and Tokyo offices so that they are easily available for on-site meetings with clients or local litigation.
