In compiling the Guide, Euromoney Legal Media Group commissioned its research department to carry out an in-depth study of experts in the field of patent law.  The initial stage of the research process involved distributing 36,000 questionnaires to senior practitioners and in-house counsel in 75 jurisdictions. The questionnaires asked leading figures to nominate those practitioners they considered to be among the most capable for advice. The results were analyzed, screened for firm, network and alliance bias and followed up with several months of face-to-face Interviews.

Sughrue Mion, PLLC, is based in Washington, DC with offices in Silicon Valley and Tokyo.  It is one of the largest firms in the US practicing solely in the fields of intellectual property.
