Sughrue Mion's Trademark Group Claims Another WIPO Victory

2/24/2006

SUGHRUE MION, PLLC has claimed victory on behalf of client The Common Fund for Nonprofit Organizations.  In a February 8th decision, WIPO declared that defendant, Modern Limited-Cayman Web Development, wrongfully and in bad faith used the Plaintiff’s trademark, “COMMONFUND” as a domain name and operated a web-site using said mark.  WIPO declared defendant’s domain name “www.commonfund.com” as being “identical and confusingly similar to the Complainant’s trademark and domain name.”  Modern Limited was ordered by WIPO to transfer the domain name, www.commonfund.com, to The Common Fund.

Sughrue attorneys Kevin Smith and Leigh Ann Lindquist led the proceeding to victory.
