Only DC Attorney Named in Euromoney’s "Best of the Best" List
W. Mack Webner of Sughrue Mion, PLLC (Washington), has been named as one of the world’s leading trademark attorneys in the new Euromoney "Best of the Best Expert Guide". The Guide, which focuses on the top 25 lawyers in the world in a number of practice areas, named only 5 U.S. attorneys in the trademark list. Webner was the only trademark attorney from Washington to make the list.
"We are very pleased with Mack’s achievement," said Sughrue Mion managing partner Cindy Weber. "We know, and our clients know, the level of expertise and talent Mack brings to his work. It is very gratifying to see that recognized."
Webner, whose hometown is Akron, OH., received his JD from the University of Akron School of Law where he is currently Chairman of the School of Law’s Intellectual Property Council. He also holds an LLM from New York University. While living in Akron, he spent several years working at Goodyear, holding the position of in-house trademark counsel before moving on to private practice.
In compiling the Guide, Euromoney Legal Media Group commissioned its research department to carry out an in-depth study of experts in ten fields of law. The initial stage of the research process involved distributing 36,000 questionnaires to senior practitioners and in-house counsel in 80 jurisdictions. The questionnaires asked leading figures to nominate those practitioners they considered to be among the most capable for advice. The results were analyzed, screened for firm, network and alliance bias and followed up with several months of face-to-face Interviews.
As a final verification, the list was discussed with a select group of advisers from leading legal centers worldwide, including: New York, Washington DC, Sydney, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris, Frankfurt, London, Chicago and Singapore.
Sughrue Mion, PLLC is based in Washington, DC with offices in Silicon Valley and Tokyo. It is one of the largest firms in the US practicing solely in the fields of intellectual property.
