Sughrue Mion Names Six New Partners

WASHINGTON – Sughrue Mion, PLLC is pleased to announce that six of its attorneys have been elected to the partnership.  Kelly Hyndman, J. Warren Lytle, Carl Pellegrini, Raja Saliba, Jeffrey A. Schmidt and Lee Wright joined the partnership effective Jan. 1.

 Kelly Hyndman, 43, focuses his practice on the protection of computer software, including software-implemented business methods.  He also has experience in networks, telecommunications, and various other electrical arts.  His legal experience includes patentability, validity, and infringement opinions; patent application preparation and prosecution; patent interference; patent litigation; patent appeals to the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  He holds a J.D. magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, an M.S. in computer information systems from Boston University, and a B.S. in computer science from the United States Military Academy.

 J. Warren Lytle, Jr., 43, practices in all areas of patent law with an emphasis on patent litigation, counseling clients on intellectual property matters, preparing and prosecuting patents, and opinon work.  Jay has experience litigating patent issues in various U.S. district courts and the International Trade Commission (ITC).  He also has considerable experience writing and prosecuting patent applications in the electrical and mechanical arts, particularly with computer hardware, software, network, and telecommunications technologies.  In his practice he also advises clients on establishing U.S. and foreign patent portfolios, and analyzing patent portfolios.  He holds a J.D. degree from American University, Washington College of Law, and both M.S. and B.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland.

Carl Pellegrini, 43, is a member of the firm's Electrical/Mechanical Patent Group and works in the areas of patent litigation and patentability, infringement, and validity opinions.  He has experience litigating before U.S. District courts and the International Trade Commission (ITC), and also prepares and prosecutes patent applications and counsels clients on patent protection.  He holds a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, an MBA from George Washington University, and a B.S. in electrical engineering from the Marquette University College of Engineering.

Raja N. Saliba, 37, is a member of the firm’s Electrical/Mechanical Patent Group.  His practice includes all areas of patent law, including preparation and prosecution of patent applications, opinion work on patentability, infringement and validity, patent litigation, and licensing.    He speaks both Arabic and French.  Saliba holds a J.D. from George Washington University Law School, an MBA from the College of William and Mary, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech.

Jeffrey A. Schmidt, 35, prepares and prosecutes patent applications related to the electrical and mechanical arts, and also performs opinion work.  He holds a J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Lee Wright, 42, focuses his practice on patent application and preparation, appeals, interferences, opinions, and reexamination and reissue of applications.  He is a member of the firm’s Chemical Patent Group and Interference Group.  Prior to joining Sughrue Mion in 1996 Wright worked for 10 years as a patent examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  He holds a J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law, and both an M.S. and B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Maryland.

Sughrue Mion, PLLC, is based in Washington, DC with offices in Silicon Valley and Tokyo.  It is one of the largest firms in the US practicing solely in the field of intellectual property.
