Practice Area
Trademark

Our Trademark practice, encompassing copyright and domain name matters as well, is focused full-time on protecting the universe of ideas that include brand names, logos, packaging, labeling, advertising, unfair competition, corporate identity and creative expression.

Trademarks

We understand all phases of trademark practice and develop strategies and programs to register, maintain, license, enforce and defend trademark rights in the United States and worldwide, using a select network of international associates. Our trademark attorneys have extensive governmental, corporate and private practice experience. Most also are experienced litigators and regularly handle traditional trademark law cases, domain name litigation and arbitration cases, as well as disputes in other cutting-edge issues emerging from the Internet.

We know "what's in a name." Our experience has taught us that our clients' trademarks can be among their most valuable assets. Our substantive knowledge enables us to protect these assets. To do so, we work with our clients through a mark's life cycle, from the start of the naming process to registration, renewal and, if necessary, litigation. We counsel clients on the selection of marks and apply our knowledge and experience in assessing the availability and registrability of the marks and determining the scope of protection in the marketplace. Our commitment extends to the commercial development of our clients' trademark properties including providing internal protection programs, developing merchandising and character licensing programs, as well as due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.

Domain Names

The revolutionary new universe created by the Internet has resulted in the dedication of a significant part of our practice to issues involving the acquisition and protection of domain names. We advise our clients on registration and protection strategies for domain names and are experienced in using all the options for timely and practical conflict resolution through the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution for Assigned Names and Numbers (UDRP) procedures, as well as the courts.

Copyrights

We recognize that copyright issues have proliferated light years beyond where they were just a few years ago. Information and the means to copy that information are everywhere. Our attorneys are experienced both with the traditional avenues of copyright law and the new challenges posed by today's technology. We work with our clients to protect their copyrightable properties from creation to enforcement.
