Litigation
Our practice consists of trial and appellate litigation in the federal and state courts with regular appearances in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the other Circuit Courts of Appeal, U.S. District Courts, U.S. International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Administrative Courts. Because of our diverse client base we are equally experienced in managing litigation for our clients internationally. Whether leading litigation as "first chair" or co-chairing with general litigation counsel, our focus is on protecting the universe of our clients' intellectual properties and assuring that unprotectible rights remain freely available. While some firms specialize in litigation and others in intellectual property, our Litigation Practice Group brings these skills together into a formidable team.
In a practice focused on intellectual property, it is imperative that we have all of the weapons necessary to protect the universe of ideas generated by our clients' properties. Our Litigation Practice Group is an experienced and integral part of our arsenal. We recognize that all too often disputes are unavoidable and our clients need to protect or defend their rights, either in patent or trademark proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or in court litigation. Sughrue's attorneys have the substantive knowledge to create winning strategies and present even the most complex cases clearly and comprehensively to a judge or jury. At the same time, we are committed to focusing on our clients' business objectives and are fully prepared to pursue alternative dispute resolution when circumstances warrant.
