Alan Kasper Testifies before Congressional Subcommittee


On February 27, 2008, Sughrue Partner, Alan Kasper, testified on behalf of AIPLA at an oversight hearing before Congress’ Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet and Intellectual Property.  This Sub committee has jurisdiction over matters pertaining to copyright, patent and trademark law, information technology, administration of U.S. Courts, Federal Rules of Evidence, Civil and Appellate Procedure, and judicial ethics.

In his remarks, Mr. Kasper addressed issues of cost, pendency and quality as impacted by current Patent Office practice and procedures, and offered suggestions to improve the quality of examination and attain enhanced efficiencies leading to reduced costs and pendency.

Alan Kasper, current First Vice President of the AIPLA, is considered a leading expert in the field of Intellectual Property and is a frequent speaker on the issue of patent reform and procedures.
